National Pistachio Day

The Power of Pistachios

Pistachios have a rich history and are very deserving of national and world recognition on February 26, 2021.  Those of us in lending business have been watching the progress of pistachios for many years.  Some of us were around at a time when the only pistachios we saw or purchased were covered in red dye to hide blemishes from those imported nuts.

We saw the trial and errors of early rootstocks to eliminate the tree mortality from verticillium wilt.  Now we have seen the consistent improvement in growing, processing, and marketing of this amazing product.  Most recently the impressive health benefits are being brought to light, with none more impressive than Dr. Oz’s presentation at the 2020 American Pistachio Conference.

According to the AmericanPistachios.org, pistachios can help individuals maintain good health, support an active lifestyle, and reduce the risk of nutrition-related diseases. Research studies suggest that pistachios have numerous health benefits, including being a source of health-boosting antioxidants and other important nutrients, lowering the risk of heart disease, supporting weight management and a healthy diet, creating a lower-than-expected blood-sugar level and helping with insulin sensitivity.

All of this to say Conterra is very much in tune with the pistachio industry and stands ready to meet the real estate term loan needs of its growers.  If it is a refinance of existing debt, purchase loan financing or a development loan to get that new planting off the ground, we would be happy to field your request.  We also have an alternative loan program to help borrowers who may have struggled in recent history but are on their way to turning the corner and may need an interest only bridge loan to get there.

If considering some term financing for your pistachios, or any other crops you may have, please give us a call or if you just have some questions, we are here to help.
