National Pistachio Day

The Power of Pistachios

National Pistachio Day is celebrated on February 26, 2025, but those of us in the lending business watch the prosperous progress of pistachios year-round. Pistachios have a rich history and are very deserving of national and world recognition. Some of us were around at a time when the only pistachios we saw or purchased were covered in red dye to hide blemishes from those imported nuts.

West Coast Nut shared that the pistachio industry has grown significantly in recent years. The United States, particularly California, now leads global production, contributing around 63% of the world’s pistachios in the 2023/24 season. This increase is driven by strong consumer demand and the crop’s ability to thrive in dry conditions, making it an attractive option for farmers navigating water challenges

In the western region, states like California, Arizona, and New Mexico account for 100 percent of commercial pistachio production in the United States. These regions provide ideal growing conditions with a hot, dry climate and fertile soil. Born and raised in California, Conterra Relationship manager Tharvin Gill understands the regional operating cycles and seasons. Tharvin’s passion for agriculture has been the driving force for his career, and he is excited for the opportunity to help western farmers achieve their dreams.

All of this to say Conterra is very much in tune with the pistachio industry and stands ready to meet the real estate term loan needs of its growers. Whether it be refinance of existing debt, purchase loan financing or an equipment loan to get that new planting off the ground, we would be happy to field your request.  We also have an alternative loan program to help borrowers who may have struggled in recent history but are on their way to turning the corner and may need an interest only bridge loan to get there.

If you are considering some term financing for your pistachios, or any other crops you may have, please give us a call or if you just have some questions, we are here to help.
